Future ChampioNZ Festival Prioritised in National Talent Programme for 2015/16 Season

Triathlon New Zealand High Performance have recently announced 5 key racing events which will make up the National Junior Series in 2015/16.  The National Junior Series is contested as an inter-regional competition, and all athletes aspiring to the National Talent Programme should aim to contest at least 4 out of the 5 designated events.

This year the Future ChampioNZ Festival will be your first opportunity to demonstrate potential to the National Talent Programme.  Placed the weekend before Christmas the festival is an ideal opportunity to peak for an event prior to the Christmas break.

The Festival will be contested over 3 days by Under 19 and Under 16 athletes across Aquathlon, Open Water Swimming, Athletics and the Grand Final 'Draft Legal' Triathlon.

Athletes will compete for points throughout the weekend based on the World Championship Series points system with double points being awarded for the Grand Final.

The female and male athletes with the greatest accumulated points score in each division will be the respective winners of the inaugural Future ChampioNZ Festival.

We look forward to hosting you here in sunny Taupo with the support of Great Lake Taupo.

Stephen Bradley,

Future ChampioNZ Festival Director.
